Competences in criminal matters merge with those in customs matters whenever the movement of goods may result in the contestation of offences having criminal relevance, as in the cases of smuggling provided for by Republic President Decree n. 43/1973 or introduction into the State and trade in products with false signs; assistance is provided both to individuals and to companies, also with reference to the administrative responsibility of legal entities ex Legislative Decree n. 231/2001, with particular regard to the precautionary phase, or if a possible crime leads the Judicial Authority to the seizure of products or property.
